Receiving the precious blood of the Lord at Mass

The Bishops of England and Wales have now given parish priests permission to reintroduce the reception of Holy Communion under both kinds, that is, for the faithful to receive the Body of Christ and His precious Blood.

The Bishops of England and Wales have now given parish priests permission to reintroduce the reception of Holy Communion under both kinds, that is, for the faithful to receive the Body of Christ and His precious Blood. We did this on Maundy Thursday, the Easter Vigil and the 11.30 a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday. Many people on these occasions received under both kinds.

We would like to make available Holy Communion under both kinds. However, the present pool of Ministers of Holy Communion is too small to provide this at all Masses especially on a Sunday. Therefore, Fr Martin will start to approach people and ask them if they are willing to become a Minister of Holy Communion and serve the community in this important way. Until we have more Ministers of Holy Communion, we will receive under only one kind, that is, the Body of Christ in which is the fullness of Christ’s real presence.
